1920 newspaper dated September 20th. One article reads "Another weekend of sensations. Scarcely a weekend passes latterly in Ireland without its crop of sensations. Those this weekend included :- Military surprise civilians on the Dublin mountains. One civilian shot dead, another wounded, and 40 arrested. Policeman shot dead and 2 others wounded in Abbeyfeale. In Galway, four young ladies had their hair cut off, one in the early morning, and the others by way of reprisal during Curfew hours. The burning of a house in Ballyanders and one near Emly; the bombing of a house in Galway and rifle firing there, as well as in Athlone."
