Estella Solomons was a prolific printmaker producing 90 etchings and a small number of lithographs and woodcuts. She attended the Metropolitan School of Art and Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin, receiving tuition from printmaker George Atkinson and painter William Orpen, and was the first artist in Ireland to purchase her own printing press. She specialized in picturesque views of Dublin, which recall Whistler's urban scenes and was familiar with Rembrandt's etchings having visited Amsterdam in 1906. Solomons was proficient at combining crisp etching lines with finer hatched lines to convey atmosphere and to capture a moment in time.

These curved metal signs were removed from the Coombe Hospital, Dolphins Barn, in the early 1990s by Richard Howley. Howley's company, Sign Engravers Ltd, was contracted to redo the signage on the hospital. This old Coombe sign -- dated to the original lying-in hospital before its move to the Barn -- was destined for the skip but, thankfully, was saved by Mr Howley.

Macintosh Performa 5200. The Power Macintosh 5200 LC was introduced in April 1995 with a PowerPC 603 CPU at 75 MHz as a PowerPC-based replacement of the Macintosh LC 500 series. Production of the 5200 and 5300 models was discontinued in the first half of 1996.
