Evening Herald newspaper, dated Tuesday September 28th 1920. Main front page article reads "Mallow Military Barracks Raided, Soldier Killed: Machine Gun Captured. One of the biggest sensations yet reported took place to-day, the military barracks at Mallow being successfully raided. One soldier was killed, and a large quantity of arms and ammunition, including a machine gun, was captured. The raiders got clear away with their booty, and suffered no casualties."
