The single cover is black with white writing 'Bagatelle Summer in Dublin' with a picture of the Liffey and Dublin city in the evening.
“I remember that summer in Dublin/And the Liffey as it stank like hell,” went the chorus to Dublin rock band Bagatelle’s 1980 number one Summer in Dublin. The smell of the Liffey was a serious problem – £25 million was set aside to clean up the river that year. The narrator decides to leave for somewhere cleaner and quieter, but when he gets bored, “I just get on the road and I stick out my thumb/’Cause I know for sure you’ll be there still.”
