A colour photograph of Sean O'Casey's room showing a number of books and religious pictures and icons. From Getty 'Sean O'Casey’s Room at 42 Mount Joy Square where O'Casey lived and which was also the setting for his play ‘Shadow of a Gunman’.'
Sean O’Casey lived in this tenement flat at 42 Mountjoy Square. It was the setting for his play, Shadow of a Gunman. O’Casey never forgave the Abbey Theatre for rejecting his fourth play, The Silver Tassie, and left Dublin for good in the late 1920s. He died in Torquay in 1964.
